Pasta Party and Meet

PASTA PARTY ON WEDNESDAY

This Wednesday Dec 14th we have a pasta party at the Brimhall’s house.  We will be starting at 6:30 p.m.  There will be lots of great food to prepare the swimmers for the next day's meet.

FIRST "OFFICIAL" HOME MEET OF THE SEASON

Our first official home meet is this Thursday Dec 15th.  Our warmup will start at 3:00 with a start time of 3:30.  Seating is limited so come early if you are worried about getting a seat. 

TIMERS

Just a reminder for those who volunteered to help time (check on our blog if you can’t remember) you need to be on the pool deck at least 15 minutes before the start of the meet.  The cheerleaders are going to help time again so all the parents who signed up have been split into a first half and second half.

Thanksgiving Invitational 2016 Results

Congratulations to the SVHS Girls Swim Team for taking 1st place at the 2016 Thanksgiving Invitational this past weekend!  Way to go girls!  Congratulations to the SVHS Boys Swim Team that tied for 6th place with Viewmont....great job!

We also had 2 Sky View Swimmers finish with High Point Awards at the meet: Alexa Walters - High Point Senior Girls, Megan Brimhall - High Point Junior Girls.

Pasta Party Location Change

The location of the team pasta party for Thursday, November 17th has been changed to the Storr's house (660 W 200 S, Smithfield).

Lunch for the Mustang Invitational

LUNCH INFORMATION

We will be ordering lunches from Old Grist Mill for swimmers who want them for the lunch break during the Mustang Invitational.  The cost per lunch is $5.35 and includes a sandwich, bag of chips, and a cookie.  The team will provide bottled water. 

Due to the number of lunches we will be ordering, there will be no special requests beyond the sandwich options on the form.  The cost of the lunches ordered will be charged to your student's Sky View account.

We will NOT be ordering any extra lunches so if your swimmer wants one, it needs to be ordered before the deadline.  Swimmers are certainly welcome to bring their own lunch instead.

Region 1 Relays

Dates: Tuesday, November 15
Location: Ogden High School Pool (2875 Tyler Ave, Ogden)
Meet Begins: 3:00 pm
Warm Ups: 2:25-2:50 pm

Teams Attending: Weber, Roy, Ogden, Fremont, Northridge, Clearfield, Mountain Crest, Sky View

BUS INFORMATION:  Swimmers will ride the bus to and from the meet with the team.  Team bus will leave Sky View about 1:00 (freshmen will be picked up at North Cache at 12:40).  Students will be school excused for the classes missed.  We expect to be back to Sky View about 7:00 pm.

Swimmers should bring their own chair, snacks, swim gear. THERE WILL BE NO MEALS PROVIDED AND THE TEAM WILL NOT STOP FOR DINNER ON THE WAY HOME.

Sky View Athletics Apparel

For parents, swimmers, and family members looking for some Sky View Athletics shirts to wear to swim meets, there are many options available on Register My Athlete.  Once logged in, select STORE from the upper left column, then choose General Store (4th one down).  There you can select shirts, sweats, hats, bags, socks, etc.

This is a link to the Sky View Athletics General Store.

You will pay for these items through Register My Athlete and the Athletics Department will order them and let you know when they are in.

More detailed information can be found under the Away Meets tab at the top of the blog.  The team will have dinner together at the hotel after the events on Friday.  Information on lunch plans for Saturday will be sent out shortly.  Swimmers should plan on bringing their own snacks/drinks for both Friday and Saturday.  Bus departure times will be announced as we get closer.  Hotel room assignments will be made by the captains and Coach Singleton.

Sky View Swim Team practice times during the UEA Fall Break:

Thursday, October 20: MANDATORY Practice 8:30 am - 10:30 am
Friday, October 21: OPTIONAL Practice 7:30 am - 9:30 am
Saturday, October 22: NO PRACTICE

Saturday Practice, Breakfast & Team Service Project

All fees are now on Register My Athlete.  The main sports fee is found under your account.  All other fees are found under the "Girls Swimming Store" or "Boys Swimming Store" (found on the left side column).   The t-shirt, swim cap, and IHC sports training fee are listed in the Girls Swimming Store.

This week, October 15, we will be having Saturday practice. It begins at 7:00 a.m.  Swimmers: BE READY TO GET IN THE WATER AT 7:00!  Arrive early enough to be ready. 

Right after practice, we will have a team breakfast.  When we finish breakfast, we will be doing a team service project.  These will be small projects around the school.  Most of the projects involve painting...so wear clothes that are not important to you.  If all goes well, we will be finished about 11:00 a.m.

Volunteers for the Swim Season

Thank you to all the parents who have signed up to help with swim meets, team dinners, Saturday practice breakfasts, and overnight meet dinners.  We have added a list of those who volunteered and their assignments under the tabs at the top of this blog.

Remember that all fees need to be paid through Register My Athlete.  You can pay online (with a 2% fee added) or you can add everything to your cart then print out the ticket (or write down the ticket number) and take that to the Sky View Finance Office and pay it there.

Like I said before today is probably the hardest day for me as a coach.  I wish I could take everyone on to the team.  If you didn't make the team keep swimming.  There are club teams and private instructors who you can swim with.  Feel free to come and talk with me about what options there are for you.

Sky View Girls - FIRST PLACE at 5A State High School Swim Championships!

Huge congratulations to the Sky View Girls Swim Team on their 1st place finish at the 5A State Championships last weekend.  

Congratulations to the Boys Swim Team as well on finishing in 7th place out of 28 5A high schools, and with only 7 boys representing Sky View at the meet.  Well done!

5A State Championships Heat Sheets

The 5A State Swimming Championships will begin Thursday, February 11th at 7:00 pm.  Events #1-4 will be on Thursday with the rest of the events on Friday, February 12th beginning at 6:00 pm.

End of Season Banquet

We are looking forward to celebrating the end of a long season filled with hard work and great accomplishments with our end of season banquet on WEDNESDAY, MARCH 2 at 6:30 pm.  The banquet will be held at the Riverwoods Conference Center (615 S 80 E, Logan).

Tickets must be purchased by February 24th as we will need an accurate count for the conference center.

Tickets are $13 per plate and should be purchased from Faun in the main office.  (Swimmers will need a ticket as well as any parents/family members that plan to attend with them.)

Region Championship to the Girls! Boys take 2nd Place!

Congratulations to the Sky View GIRLS Swim Team for running away with the Region 1 Title on Saturday at the Region Championship Meet.  Megan Brimhall set a new SV Record in the 100 Free and the 100 Back, and new Region 1 Records in both events.  The 4x100 Free Relay broke their own SV record and the Region 1 Record as well.

On to the State Championships at BYU on February 11-12.  Go CATS!

First Place at the Highland Invitational

Congratulations to both teams on their great performances at the Highland Invitational.  The girls finished in 1st place and the boys finished in 3rd place.  With their combined scores, however, Sky View placed FIRST in the Invitational.  GO BOBCATS!

New Sky View Record

A Girls Sky View Swim Team record was broken on Tuesday, January 12 at the Sky View vs Syracuse meet.  Congratulations to Millie Miggin, Olivia Christiansen, Lainey Bingham, and Megan Brimhall for breaking the record in the 4x100 Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:47.03.  This breaks the previous record time that was set by the Sky View Girls at the 4A State Championship Meet last February.  GO BOBCATS!

5A REGION 1 CHAMPIONSHIP MEET - DATE CHANGED

The date of the 5A Region 1 Championship Meet has been CHANGED.

Region will be held on SATURDAY, JANUARY 30th at the Mountain Crest Pool.

Warm-ups for Sky View will begin at 7:30 AM and we have been assigned lanes 4-6 for warm up.  The meet will begin at 9:15 AM.

There is an entrance fee for this meet: $4.00 (non-swim team student spectators/senior citizens), $5.00 (adults), $2.00 for heat sheets.

There will be a 45-minute break directly following the 50 Free.  During the last 15 minutes of the break, they will recognize the seniors from each school in the region.

(Scoring points for the top 12 places in each event: 16,13,12,11,10,9,7,5,4,3,2,1.  Relays are double the points.)  There will be medals presented for 1-6th place for individual events and the first place relays.  First place team trophies for the boys and girls.

USA Swimming:  If swimmers would like their times to count for USA swimming, there will be USA officials observing the meet.  You will need to fill out the paperwork and pay $5 to be observed.  Check with Marcus to get the paperwork.  (It needs to be turned in to the head official at the beginning of the meet.)

Dual Meet Against Weber High Moved to Ogden Pool

The location of the meet against Weber High School this Thursday, January 7th, has been changed to the OGDEN HIGH SCHOOL POOL.  (This is the same pool where we participated in the Region 1 Relay Meet).  The address is: 2875 Tyler Ave in Ogden.  The pool building is on the east side of Ogden High School.

The meet will begin at 3:30 p.m.  GO BOBCATS!
